A Wicked Christmas Greeting, Write or Die Offline Development
First and foremost I'd like to thank you all for your kind responses and feedback regarding Write or Die. I've been overwhelmed by how it has spread and how many people it has reached. So thank you very very much.
I'd also like to wish you a Merry Christmas (or Happy Holiday, whichever you prefer) and give you this by way of a greeting card. I usually write a Christmas poem around this time of year and this is it, please feel free to share it with friends.
Thanks again to everyone for all your support.

The Grinch's Mother
A Sequel
The roast beast had been sliced the last toy was silenced
but that was not yet the end of the violence
Here is a tale that goes back up Mount Crumpit
To meet the she-fiend, the worst kind of strumpet
Though her son's heart was two sizes too small
The Grinch's mother, as you'll see, had no heart at all
She lurked in the depths, in the deepest of caves
Plotting to make all the Who's into slaves...
The other announcement I would like to make at this time is that, due to overwhelming demand, I am starting development on an offline version of Write or Die. It will include some new features, some fiendish, some helpful, but watch this blog for updates.A Sequel

Yay! Thank you so much for developing an offline version! I your program!!!
brilliant poem. congratulations!
An offline version would be amazing, and would mean even fewer distractions between crazed writing sessions.
Dear Dr. Wicked,
I only recently found out about your amazing Write or Die and right away became a big fan of you. I'm stalking, I mean, following you on Twitter and on Blogger. Thank you so much for Write or Die and in advance for the offline version you are making!
Your fan,
MissYujin :D
Thanks in advance for the offline version. I was recently on a weeklong vacation that killed my NaNo, but I should recover with your program. If only I could have used it on the trip!
Thank you very much for WoD! It's been so helpful during NaNo and I think I might actually be able to catch up on my wordcount with it!
I'm definitely looking forward to the offline version; means I can disable my internet while I write for less distractions. ;)
Ooh, offline version? *ears perk up*
Brilliant poem, I must say. It seemed like Dr. Seuss crossed with a heavy dose of Beowulf. But it definitely had that Seuss-feeling to it. The meter and everything just felt so right.
Thanks for all that you do with Write or Die. You are seriously helping me get through some slumpy days.
Oh my. Now I know why we've got Boxing Day.
I also heartily concur with these good people's declaration. I wait with anticipation the offline Write or Die.

I am orgasmically happy that you're developing something for offline use. Really. You just have no idea.
I do have a minor complaint, though. As the programming is now, it adds an extra word to the total word count each time you space twice between sentences. It took me a while to figure out how the word count was more than a hundred off when I dropped it all into a .doc file. Seeing as how it's proper to space twice between sentences and it's a serious pain in the ass to do the math to figure out how far over the goal I have to go to actually meet it, is there a way to fix that? Please? Pretty please?
Any details on the offline version's targeted system?
Cause I had started on a port to .NET about a week ago, that I'm planning on making available for download soon.
Usually I make cross-platform stuff, but I'm writing primarily on a Windows laptop these days.
@Rubi: Double spacing before sentences was taught to many people but isn't an actual writing rule: it was a decision made by typesetters because of the visual problems of mono-space fonts. Now a days, it's not an issue, unless you're still using Courier.
See here for a protracted discussion on the subject.
Yay! Being online gives me far more distractions than are helpful for me, so an offline version would be fabulous. Thank you so much!
An offline version would make you my hero. It would save me from SO MANY late papers. I appreciate your work!
Allow me to add to the clamoring for the offline version. I think I could do NaNoWriMo every month of the year once you put that out there.
Either way, you've done some excellent work here, sir. Cheers!
Can you make it platform-independent? :)
The offline version will be dead handy. Because I have to be connected to the internet to access Write or Die, I sometimes get distracted with email, MySpace, maybe have an IM running in the background... With an offline version, we can just pull the plug on our internet and write.
Merry Christmas (or happy holidays, whichever you prefer) to you!
Like everyone else here I'm looking forward to an offline version ... I like to go to a local coffee shop to write specifically because they don't have an internet connection ... less to distract me.
An offline version of this tool would make this time even more productive.
Thanks.
I love the application and have share with my friends in our writers' forum.
Is the offline version complete yet? I can't wait to use it.
